Cialis
Pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction has many causes, including psychological, hormonal, neurogenic, vascular, drug-induced or cavernous disorders from any of the above-mentioned factors. The most common erectile dysfunction type is a mixture of psychogenic and organic causes.
In 2002, at the 97th Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association, there were presented the first reports on the effects of Tadalafil on erectile dysfunction.
Tadalafil was approved for use at the end of 2002, and was approved by the FDA in November, 2003.
The most unique feature of this drug is its long duration – 18 hours in young men and 22 hours in older men, while Sildenafil and Vardenafil duration makes 4 hours.
IMPORTANT: Clinical trials have proven the safety and efficiency of Cialis for all degrees of ED, including impotence.
How to take Cialis?
- You should not take generic Cialis more than once a day;
- Take the pills exactly as prescribed by a doctor;
- The maximum Cialis dosage is 20 mg. The tablet is taken before sexual intercourse;
- If you have kidney disease, the recommended Cialis dosage is 10 mg. This dose can be increased to Cialis 20 mg;
- Patients with severe renal insufficiency should not exceed Cialis 10 mg;

IMPORTANT: Cialis requires 2 hours to reach its maximum concentration (Sildenafil and Vardenafil require 50 minutes).
The effectiveness of Levitra and Viagra can be reduced if taken with fatty foods, but the action of Cialis is neither affected by alcohol nor fatty foods. This unique pharmacokinetic feature of generic Cialis is the result of a slower absorption and a longer half-life.
How does Cialis work and how long Cialis last?
Cialis is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men.
Tadalafil, an active active ingredient of Cialis belongs to a group of medicines called PDE-5 inhibitors.
One tablet of Cialis contains:
- 5 mg of Tadalafil;
- Secondary ingredients: sodium croscarmellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, iron oxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, titanium dioxide and triacetin.
Cialis does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other coloring agents.
Advantages
The main advantage of Cialis drug is that Tadalafil remains active in the body much longer than other drugs. Viagra and Levitra operate about 5 hours (and sometimes up to 12 hours). And Cialis lasting time ranges from 24 to 36 hours, so sometimes Cialis is called “weekend drug”.
Tadalafil is also used to treat symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia. The substance relaxes the muscles in the prostate gland and bladder and helps relieve frequent urination, painful urination, or a feeling of a full bladder. Generic Cialis (Tadalafil) can be used to treat both erectile dysfunction and prostate hyperplasia.
Cialis for erectile dysfunction
- Cialis 10 mg or Cialis 20 mg should be taken at least 30-60 minutes before the expected sexual act. For some men, generic Cialis starts to work 16 minutes after administration, but for the first time we recommend taking the pill at least an hour before sex;
- Cialis for men is effective for 36 hours, that is, it is possible to achieve an erection (with sexual stimulation) at any time during 36 hours;
- Many factors can influence Cialis dosage: body weight, illness, other medications. If your doctor recommends a dose other than that specified in this article, follow the doctor’s advice;
- After three months of using Cialis 85% of men notice better erectile function;
- So far, Cialis is the only ED medicine, which is suitable for daily use. The initial Cialis dose is 2.5 mg; if this does not work, the dose may be increased to Cialis 5 mg;
- Using lower doses of Cialis is not advised, since there is no available data on their effectiveness.
Side effects
Generic Cialis relaxes smooth muscle cells, expanding the blood vessels of the penis. The most common side effect of Cialis is headache that occurs in 13 % of men.
Other negative reactions include: red skin, stomach upset, nasal congestion and urinary tract infections. But when the drug is used correctly, these side effects are relatively weak, and most of them will disappear in a few hours.
In rare cases, men experience temporary, mild eyesight problems. That is why, men with pigmentary retinitis and rare eye diseases should be very careful when using Cialis (Tadalafil).
Sudden hearing loss is another rare side effect of Cialis.
Interactions
Men who take alpha blockers (doxazosin, terazosin and tamsulosin) should be careful when using Cialis. These remedies can increase the side effects of Cialis.
Another common drug that interacts with Tadalafil is cimetidine used for heartburn and gastric ulcer. Men who take cimetidine should start with a low dose of Cialis.
Grapefruit juice can increase the amount of Tadalafil in the blood. Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking this ED medication.
Contraindications
- Allergy to Tadalafil or any ingredient in Cialis;
- Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy;
- Taking any type of nitrate (oral, sublingual, patch on the skin, or spray).
Nitrate preparations are usually used to relieve chest pain or angina pectoris. The use of nitrates with Tadalafil may cause an unexpected sharp drop in blood pressure, which may lead to fainting, heart attack, or a stroke. That is why, treatment with nitrates should start 48 hours after taking Tadalafil.
